Featured NAVCP Conference Speaker Discusses How Health Information Technology Will Transform the Delivery of Eye Care
Barry Barresi, O.D., Ph.D. discusses the evolution of Health Information Technology (HIT) and its future impact on doctors and vision plans as they deliver eye care services during the 3rd Annual National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) Conference on April 20 - 21 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Barresi is the president and CEO of the New England Eye Institute, Inc., a 501(c3) clinical network owned by the New England College of Optometry in Boston. His presentation offers a strategic approach to planning for the continued evolution of health information technology and illuminates the potential opportunities for the managed vision care industry.
"Dr. Barresi offers his extensive knowledge of the core health care and the health information technology environments and how it could impact the vision care sector," said Liz DiGiandomenico, NAVCP conference chair, and senior vice president and general manager of EyeMed Vision Care. "As a member of the Federal Relations Committee of the AOA and Chair of the Health Information Technology Study Group, Dr. Barresi's perspective is certain to resonate with this year's NAVCP conference participants.
Other topics during the conference include insights into the NAIC, HIPAA and advances in lens technology. In its third year, the NAVCP continues to grow as a forum for the exchange of information and works toward improving quality in the vision care industry.
The NAVCP conference is scheduled for April 20-21, 2006, at the Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Hotel in Florida. Limited registration is still available.
