Insurance Attorney to Speak at Annual NAVCP Conference

Bruce E. Baty, a partner with the law firm of Stinson, Morrison Hecker, LLP, shares his knowledge of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and its possible impact on managed vision care, including recent activity in the field of discount health plans. Baty will be among several featured speakers during the 3rd Annual National Association of Vision Care Plans (NAVCP) Conference in April.

Baty, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, has extensive experience in the health care industry representing insurance companies, reinsurance companies, producers and third-party administrators. His presentation, "Understanding the NAIC," is scheduled for day two of the annual conference.

"Mr. Baty brings a unique perspective on the NAIC as he discusses current topics related to both the insurance industry and managed vision care," said Liz DiGiandomenico, NAVCP conference chair, and senior vice president and general manager of EyeMed Vision Care. "He is among numerous featured speakers at this year's conference focusing on trends in the optical category and the role of managed vision care as a component of the health insurance industry."

Other topics for the conference include health information technology, HIPAA and advances in lens technology. In its third year, the NAVCP continues to provide a forum for the exchange of information and works toward improving quality in the vision care industry.
